Court Summons Five Persons Who Claimed Nathaniel Bassey Fathered Mercy Chinwo’s Son

The five people are scheduled to appear in court on April 23 to allege that popular Gospel Singer Nathaniel Bassey fathered Mercy’s son.

Okoronkwo Ejike, Kingsley Ibeh, DJ Spoiltkid, Terrence Ekot, and Samuel Agozie were summoned by an Abuja Magistrate Court in Wuse Zone 6 for alleged defamation of gospel artist Mercy Chinwo.

The summons is signed by Emmanuel Iyanna, the Registrar of the Court. They are scheduled to appear in court on April 23 for allegations that popular gospel singer Nathaniel Bassey fathered Mercy’s son.

This came when Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa, Mercy’s husband, filed a Direct Criminal Complaint against the five individuals for criminal defamation through his lawyers, led by Pelumi Olajengbesi Esq.

Uzochikwa said that the accused acts of criminal defamation were committed through the premeditated dissemination of hurtful falsehoods, cyberbullying, and cyber stalking.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the defendants recently asserted that prominent gospel singer Nathaniel Bassey fathered Chinwo’s son, an allegation that has gone viral on social media.

They made the charges on their social media accounts on March 29, when Mercy and her husband shared photos of their son and themselves on various social media channels. According to them, the Uzochikwas’ son bears a striking resemblance to Bassey, implying that he may be the child’s biological father.

Ejike’s post reads:

This Mercy Chinwo’s child she was hiding after giving birth, but the truth is that this baby looks exactly like singer Nathaniel Bassey.

“Nothing anybody wants to reason with me oh. This child is Nathaniel Bassey’s Baby. Maybe a secret away match occurred; otherwise, how can we make empirical sense of this.”

Terrence Ekot’s post on the platform “X” says: “Take a look at the stunning resemblance of Mercy Chinwo’s son and Nathaniel Bassey.
